Circa 1790 George III Harewood Box

Excessively rare late Eighteenth Century English box. Condition, quality of craftsmanship and surviving 200 year old print affixed to the top central panel make this a rare example. Interior paper lining possibly original.
Semi domed top over a rectangular case of highly figured Harewood.

Construction & Condition:
Top with central print depicting mother & children-affixed and varnished in the 18th century-string inlay bordering the print, leaf and berry inlay surrounding the central print-the outer edge of the lid inlaid with square-lines and circular multicolored inlays. The front inlaid with corresponding square and line inlays and an an inlaid oval escutcheon.(key hole cover) Very minor touch up to inlay at rear-very minor replaced section of edging at front left of lid. Lock plate appears replaced.  Bruise to right side lower panel.  Finish in excellent mellow condition.

History & Origins:
A superb example of neoclassical English work-possible origins in the Tunbridge area of England.
