A stunning sofa table dating to around
1810 ~ 1815.
Lyre ends with Ebonized
wooden strings, molded legs and the original shaped brass castors (follows the shape of the legs) joined by a central
turned stretcher, supporting a two board top with hinged drop leaves, the drop leaves supported by twin hinged brackets
pinned with knuckle joints.
Mahogany
primary wood with Pine secondary.
Two
board figured Mahogany top over a frieze with two long and two sham (false) drawers.
The drawers with exceedingly fine dovetails, Ebonized turned knobs and
Ivory escutcheons.
The color is
very good.
Good condition minor
cracks to legs & minor vintage repairs (not affecting structure) and some marking to the top/bruise
in top/all acceptable for a period piece.
Also
one of the Ebonized strings has some warpage.
Interior
of one drawer with possibly the original paper liner/the other drawer bare.
